LOYAL LOLA

For many fans of wines from the Pacific Northwest, Pinot Gris is their go-to white. Sometimes it’s hard to predict the ebbs and flows of wine popularity, but in the case of Pinot Gris, the explosion of demand was perhaps foreseeable – after the overnight success of Pinot Grigio, wine drinkers began to look for domestic versions to rival the Italian imports, and there was no need to set their sights further than Washington State. The best Washington Pinot Gris are fresh, generously flavored and fruit-forward, making fleshier and more impactful wines than even their Italian cousins. Loyal Lola is proud to present to you our take on a true American grape success story - right place, right time, always the right choice.

WINE PROFILE

Shimmering golden yellow in the glass. Loyal Lola is quite perfumed, aromas of orchard fruit, golden apple and baking spices, musky and alluring. Juicy and intense, with surprising mid-palate weight and a salty mineral kick to the flavors of pear, apple and honeysuckle. Finishes dry, bright, crisp and long. There is surprising heft to this lovely Washington Pinot Gris.

FOOD COMBINATIONS

Spaghetti carbonara, spring vegetable stew, simple grilled swordfish, chicken satay, baked scallops, asparagus.

GRIS FOR YOURSELF

The Columbia Valley’s rugged terrain and warm, dry climate doesn’t put it at the top of the list where one would expect to find world-class white wine vineyards. While it’s true that not every white variety is suited for this extreme viticultural landscape, what Washington State does well with white wine it does better than almost anybody.

Pinot Gris is one of Washington’s signature white wines, where the long, hot growing season and abundant autumn sunshine allows for a intense, vivid expression of fruit and surprising focus and grace. Loyal Lola Pinot Gris embodies the decades of experience that Washington winemakers have with this noble grape variety, and the years of fine tuning has rendered them experts at their craft.
